Was at newcastle for few hours other day and blanked and last week just managed two dogfish at once both returned. I am 15 and dont have a great cast just 70 yards max. Was wondering if anyone could help me out on tactics for daytime as I can't really fish at night no transport. I don't mind catching dogs any fish will do.I have an ubu atlantic beachcaster and a spinning rod. Any help and info is greatly appreciated. Thanks and tight lines!

A 70 yard cast is fine, as long as you are fishing the flood (up until high tide) here. The ebbing tide sees the fish move out 100 yards plus.
What baits were you using? I would suggest trying ragworm if you can get your hands on it, maybe tipping it with some mackeral. Straight mackeral will only catch doggies generally. Also try using hooks around the size 1 mark, it will allow you to catch small fish as well as any big ones.
This beach tends to fish best during Autumn or winter. Now is not necessarily the best time to fish it.
Have you tried Greystones yet? If possible give the rocks to the right of the Harbour a go. Casting isn't an issue here, you can pick up fish from 40 yards out. Fresh mackeral strips work very well here and will pick up doggies galore but also flounder have a distinct preference for it here. If you tip ragworm with mackeral you could also pick up some other species like plaice.
Happy fishing!
