Was out chillin in Sutton at the weekend and picked a few barnacles off the rocks. Will these work as bait and if so what fish will scoff them? Took a few home and froze them but im sure they work better fresh. Question is really can i use them or am i wasting my time?

Limpets can be an effect bait when used fresh particularly for wrasse in the summer time

although limpets and things like that work 2 a certain degree i believe your better off staying with the known sea baits that are tried and tested, peeler crab, lug, rag, mackrel, sandeel, squid, mussel and combinations of all of the above can be deadly at different times of the year.... in the winter lug worm combinations are a good allrounder while in summer and autumn i personally think fresh peeler crab cant be beaten as an all round bait followed by fresh mackrel... thats just my opinion but combinations of all the baits i av mentioned av worked for me for many years now without resorting to using barnacles

Haha yeh of course ill be stickin to the usual baits. Just wanted to know if they are usable at all as theyre so easy to get. Will try them for the wrasse though when they come in.

ye you could give them ago but hard back/peeler crab are hard wrasse baits to beat but ragworm is also worth trying
