Iam a part time sea angler in the summer mainly for bass, macks and flatties but iam hopefuly going to get more into it this year. Anyways, my local pier of clogherhead is now only 3 years after being re-built and the wave breakers at the back of the pier look like a really great place for congers, wrasse and other fish that were never there before. Has anyone fished here at all and caught fish that were'nt there before the new pier? I know around the head can hold pollock, but that seems to be it!

if its clogherhead in louth your talking about ya can catch pollock off the back of the pier to spun jellyworms or ragworm but i did try for wrasse with no success... try the beach for some big flounder

Did you have any pollock of any good size here? We used to get great pollock around the head bait fishing but its not great any more. Yeah some good flounder to be got on the strand!

i used to stay up there in a caravan years ago used to get tonnes of mackrel in the summer an not big pollock but lots of them i tried for different species including bass on a couple of occasions from the beach with not much luck only managed a couple of nice flounder as i said. My advice would be to spin jellyworms from the head(black with red tail)in summer for pollock and if your targeting bass try baltray at the mouth of the boyne with fresh peeler crab on a big surf. hope this helps
