Alright man,
I fish Whiting Bay a bit, and though I never blanked there, the returns can be hit and miss. Last Saturday I fished there for ray, and while the ray weren't biting, I picked up a few rockling. That said, I was using sandeel, so other baits might have been more productive. Traditionally, there's good digging for lug; but in the last few months you'd be hard pushed to get them. Bauman's in Dungarvan do a lot of frozen bait, including peeler, squid, sandeel, mackerel and occasionally frozen lug.
Access is easy: there's two carparks that face right on to the beach.
Species wise, I've picked up dogs and flatties, as well as the above-mentioned rockling; while others have picked up good bass, even if they're unlikely this time of year. Otherwise, there's a few lads on the site who've fished there more than me, so maybe they might have more to add. Another good mark near there is Ferrypoint, which has been throwing up codling for a while now.
Good luck!
Lodore
