right folks which of these three species would you rank as the best for their fighting abilities, and the reason for your choice....

only caught two out of the three, and by far the better fighter in the sea,has been mullet, but in fresh water, seatrout by a mile.

iv never caught a bass, but plenty of sea trout and a few mullet.
In my opinion, mullet fight best, they always put up a good scrap but i find sometimes sea trout do and sometimes they dont! There are some lazy sea trout out there

I've gone with mullet, but only because Black Bream wasn't listed on the poll.

mullet cos bass cant fight

Well I dont know really......
Sea trout: the acrobatics of the smaller ones can be spectacular.
Mullet: the terror that hook might tear out gives a huge adrenalin edge.
Bass: the schoolies can fight like hell, but with the bigger ones its often more like arm wrestling. My PB bass - 9lb on an old Penn bass rod and 12lb mono - I thought I'd hooked a big lump of weed until I got it up to my knees.
Most spectacular fight of all though is with Herself the morning after she's downed a bottle and half of Chardonnay....

mullet are deadly on really light gear, light rod 4lb line and a 5lb mullet cant go wrong.
lb for lb the best fighting fish are big coalfish from the boat that is. you'll find it hard to beat a double figure coalfish.

Let’s keep this topic down to the above named fish.

Pound for Pound Bass cant fight for peanuts. Even big Bass put up a relatively small fight! I love fishing for Bass but its not cos of their legendary fighting abilities, its more cos they grow so damn slowly that when you do catch a big one its an achievement by virtue of the fact that you have outsmarted all that knowledge! . Polock are more of a fighter than Bass, so are Wrasse to be fair! And if you really want to go down the food chain a bit - Big Mack put up more of a fight than Bass do. My personal favourite would be Sea Trout. Mullet probably rank higher than Bass and thats saying alot!

i hooked (what i think was) a sea trout last year spinning for mack and it was unreal. got it close a few times but it kept taking line again and the jumps it was making were savage. looked about 3 or 4lb but couldnt be sure. after a few minutes it got off on a jump but never had a fight like it. sayin that i've never had a Bass on spinning gear so cant compare.
next up was a pollack just under 5lb on a spinning rod. caught it just under my feet and it had the rod almost bent double. the fight didnt last too long as i tightened the drag a bit to get it out to weight it but serious pulling power on 10lb line and an ugly stick lite rod.
i dont rate Bass as being the greatest of fighters but the smaller ones seem to fight better. my biggest was over 8lbs and it could have been a lump of weed. best fight i got from a Bass was a little schoolie of 41cms. i'd had a few earlier on so wasnt too bothered if it got off and i loosened the drag to give it a chance and he fought like mad in the surf, going left and right. eventually landed it. poor fella was knackered. i left him recouperate for a while in a little rock pool and off he went again happy as larry.
the only mullet i had was a G.G. that was foul hooked and caught on braid. it might have been the braid as i wasnt used to it but the thing was going like mad. unreal alltogether. after that i promised myselt id target them a few times and tried but got no hook ups.
