blackrock can be a huss hotspot from time to time..but from my own experience its always from august-mid october when there around although i got a small one of the diving tower about 2 ish months ago.. iv had countless huss there up to 12lbs.. i dont think you would get many this time of the year though. Blackrock is in salthill really..about 2 minutes drive from the main street..have been meaning to fish it recently. Il give it a go tomorrow and let ya know how it fishes

Well its relatively clean ground but there is a good bit of weed too so clean to mixed ground i suppose. Distances...well there is a sand bar at about 60 yards out at high tide and another at about 150ish i think.. thats where you would usually hit most fish from there...although they are around the weed too so you could try as far as you can! Bait wise..mackeral seems too work best but sandeel and squid works well too..tide wise...off the diving tower 2 hours before and after high tide. And off the beach 2 hours before and after low tide.
Again its not a good time of the year for it so i wouldnt expect much...but as i said august to start of november are the best times.

i had some nice huss out in clifden bay last year you can see them in the reports below
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=24210
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=23833
if you want to head out to the mark i will let you know how to get to it
some nice conger there as well, you don't need a big cast 20 feet will do
its rough ground and you will lose a bit of gear but its worth it
have not fished it in awhile so i don't know if there is any around now

d.kane62 had a nice huss at the white lady last year as well

you be right there doggie..

its a bit early in the year for huss of any size, but they can be caught to around 5lbs still.. havent fished blackrock in a while, but it is one of the better spots for double figure huss, mid-late summer is the best time for them..

and chris.. you should try behind the diving tower over low tide 2hrs before to 2 hrs after.. 70yrd cast with mack and squid..  always worked for me.

and on ladies beach out on the rocks past the old pool, at low tide casting to wards the diving tower is another spot for huss.. and dont have to cast too far either..30-50yrds.. but it is fairly rough ground, so be prepared to lose a bit..
