Wicklow Beach?

Mon Dec 07, 2009 10:09 pm

Has anybody ever fished the very small beach around the back of the Wicklow golf club? Not sure what its called. Its a bit of trek to get to from the carpark up by the clubhouse and is probably closer to the lighthouse. In the past have fished from the rocks heading back towards beach at the foot the steps leading down from the carpark, with mostly dogfish + small wrasse. Strong current and quite snaggy. Just wondering if its worth the effort?

Simple answer no it isnt worth the bother, there is a few fish on it but there are much better marks down the coast. The small beach at the end of the path is south beach wicklow and due to costal erosion is officialy closed, there is another beautiful beach at the headland about a mile or so along the cliff walk, fished a couple of times with very little to show.

Local name for that beach is the glen turn. Better off staying away a bit of a tackle graveyard for very little reward. Most of that area used to be very good during summer months (long time ago) but now there is nowt, only dogs and wrasse which can be fun on light gear.

Thats incredible I was only thinking of putting up a post last night on the exact same subject!!
Pity it's no use cos would be a lovely place to fish. Has anyone else ever had any luck here? or around that area?
