Aaron- just saw your post there now. Maybe a bit late to get back to you.

Portrush can throw up all sorts of fish mate. Pollock, collies, conger, dog and flatties. I had my biggest ever flattie off the harour a nice plaice. In season it will throw up wrasse too. I have always found the usual baits effective, rag and mack. Try throwing off the point at the end of it. If you have rotten bottom rigs throw into the weed directly infornt of you. if not fish in the mouth of the harbour- a little cleaner ground but not as productive or launch your bait about 75-100 yds onto cleaner ground off the point.. There is also the blue pool at the other side of portrush penninsula or even Ramore head.

Hope this helps and isn't too late.

I fish the blue pool somtimes but there are lots of snags. How far out is it to clean sand?

I have fished the blue pool quite a bit and have found the wed to be very patcy and changes from week to week. Especially after big tides. Try launching your bait out a good hundred yds or more.

I have found the snaggy bits to be where the fish is tho. With some of my biggest fish taken about 10 mts out.

yep I agree, the Bluepool is snaggy close in, but there are fish there. A cast of around 50 yards will see you onto good, clean ground. I have only caught Doggies and smaller coalie recently when casting further out
