hey all
going on a cod mission this week and just wondering if anyone has any spots or tips for catching cod from beaches in mayo

i believe squid works well, although I Wouldnt know much about the west coast. There was a great article in last months Sea Angler magazine on Cod fishing.

cheers conor i have to get that,
just want to use up all my mack heads and guts the cod went mental for them during the summer and herself is going mental with she took out what she thought was some fish for dinner to thaw out and when she open the bag and seen the guts and head she wasn't impressed

'tips on cod fishing in mayo?'
1-get car
2- drive to waterford,cork,east coast
3-buy bait
4- use apporiate rigs
5-catch cod put in a bucket with an aerator
6-drive back to mayo and release cod in preffered location
7- fish location after 10 years, hopefully the cod will have become resident
8-catch codling in mayo
9-job done

depends on ambition, if you go for gold you get one over 50cm ie big bucket

Hi Taz
have had some codling myself off Sligo coast around Mullaghmore, on a few occasions this year, but nothing of any size yet.
You may benefit from a chat to some of the charter skippers who may know some marks or maybe Doug in " A Shore thing " in Westport may know more !!
