hello to all, just new to the site some great reports makes me want to get up and go fishing but with weather like that think its probably best to put the feet up, poor excuse hey anyway superb report on the 12 bass have to meet that guy as im still chasing my first bass this year, just cant seem to find any around here, bettystown that is, also hav'nt stopped chasing tope this year as im looking for my first ever, no such look either even bought a new boat for the job anyway great site and hope to post a report soon myself looks like wicklow is next on the cards any good marks anyone.

Plenty of bass around your next of the woods, despite the lack of reports.

I'd often wondered if the internet hadnt quite reach louth/north meath yet

If you use the search function at the top of each page, and search for laytown it should give you a few previous reports.

I have fished laytown a few times myself, never got bass there before, but have seen the caught, a good size too

Fish behind the pitch and putt golf course by the estuary, best fished 2 hours or so after high water upto an hour or so of the drop.

50/60 yard casts into the gullys is all thats required, I'm told it fishes best when its relatively calm, use a 3 hook flapper and rag, lug, and crab, I guess razor might be worth a shot aswell, especially after a spell of rough weather.

Plenty of flounder on this beach, and the odd dab...no reason why turbot shouldnt be there either, but never caught one - maybe down to the fact I've not really used fish baits here.

If you put in a few sessions on laytown I'm sure you'll get you bass.

Finally, fish it into darkness if possible.

thanks for the advice Shamoo ,you dress it up pretty nice, will certainly take it on board and send reports good or bad, also in reply to your question Trout hunter, i bought a quicksilver 650/100hp mercury great boat with loads of space in the cabin which is very important in this country and enough space on deck for 3 to 4 men, got her up north ,good price.very

cheers shamoo for clearing that up , actually had a quick session on saturday one hour either side of high tide on the north side of the river mouth and managed one flounder on the ebbing tide also missed a few more bites so will try the new hours next cheers
