ID Please....

Hi everyone,

Anyone any idea what the attached photo of a fish might be - I have a hope for my species list- but would like a second/third/fourth etc opinion.
In an amazing twist of fate I photographed it on a lifelike giant inflatable hand, so it's not only a couple of inches long
Got it down near Brandon in case that helps anyone....

My 1st impression would be flounder (sorry I see you have that on your species list already  ) based on shape/colour/lateral line, what you thinking yourself :?:

don't know how much this is gonna help man but he's a right handed flattie (upside down in your pic). so that rules out all the left handed species such as scaldfish, turbot, brill, megrim and topknot. you could also rule out witch, sole and solenette as they all have blunt rounded heads. this leaves you with lemon sole, flounder, plaice, dab, long rough dab and halibut. as to which one of them it is, it might be fair to say it's not a dab or long rough dab as they would have been rough to the touch which would have been a dead give away.
so as far as i can make out that leaves you with:
lemon sole
flounder
plaice
halibut

i'm sure one of the other lads might be able to shed some more light on the i.d.

Yes, fair enough lads, I'll cop for a flounder unless anyone else comes back with anything.
Friend of mine was convinced it was a brill and it was a bit sandier/lighter than the photo would suggest, but I didn't really think it was, but I was hoping .
It is by far the smallest flounder I have caught anyway, so something to take away with me.

Got a nice seatrout as well in spite of the sun so was good day despite the lack of another species.

was out spinning and caught a tiny flounder on the spinner the fish had actually bitten on the hook rather than foul hooked. think i have a pic of it on my computer at home ill throw it up later on. it was the smallest fish i have ever seen and the funny thing was my mate came down and caught another one. so weapon of choice for microscopic flounder is kilty lures! :)
