Found an old ambassadeur reel 5000 red

I found this reel amongst my fathers fishing tackle. He passed away some time ago and fished for salmon and trout fly spin etc. I have only started using muti reel recently standing in the surf with rod in hand either a daiwa supercast115 or zziplex 11'8 and an ounce or two of lead letting bait move around. Ithink its up there with plugging in terms of fight thrill etc beats the rod rest! I am using a chrome rocket 6500 getting great distance and great nests but will conquer that. Anyway i found this reel and its at least 30 years old but it seems perfect it was used spinning for salmon in the 70s. Question is could i use it for fishing described above or is it too light and not able for it id like to keep it in good nick but would also like to use it to keep the tradition going pat

I also have and use ambassadeurs alot both shore and boat I have one of those 5000 as well I use it when I am spinning of the rocks its great fun to use and gets you plenty of experience casting a multi. You could also use it for beach work as well with a light rod and a few ounce's on it. You can tell how old that reel is if you look at the serial number on the reel seat the first 2 digits is the year it was made.
