anyone used salmon skin as a bait. got some from a local fishmonger and i'm curious to know if anybody has tried it. how did it work...any success ??

Used it many times for whitting. Worked wonders.
It's really tough and will stay on the hook forever.

thanks for replies lads. will try it out pretty soon,seems very tough and may have its uses. surely it must be good for more than just dumb mini whiting. it's oily and smelly and may just be worth a try.

use the skin to wrap mackerel and sandeel in,make a sausage using bait elastic,might keep the crabs at bay

I know a friend who uses big bits of salmon fillets for porgies when the macks are scarce and it works a treat.

havnt tried it, i dont see why u should pick up macks and stuff in the summer on it, they love a bit off of a shine.
