Hi folks,
I'm coming back to Ireland in a couple of weeks after a great trip last year. However I struggled to find anywhere to dig bait - I did manage to get forzen bait from Galway and Clifden but would like to dig some lug in the area.
We're staying in Leenan itself and I'm looking to fish little Kilary and the beaches/rocks round towards Cleggan. So can anyone point me to a beach I can dig in the area ?
I'd also welcome a pointer to the tide tables if anyone has a link ?
Finally if anyone wants to join me for a session I'd love to meet some of the folk on here. We'll be in Leenan from Saturday 22nd August for a week - just look out for the day glow derek floatation suit sheltering for the inevitable rain !
Cheers
Andy

welcome to the forum Andy, tide tables and predictions can be found here:
http://easytide.ukho.gov.uk/easytide/Ea ... tPort.aspxhttp://www.sailing.ie/inside/default.asp?pageId=520http://www.planetseafishing.com/maps/ti ... d-ireland/for more in depth info I'd recommend you get in touch with the lads from the wider Galway/Connemara/Mayo area here from the site, I'm sure they are more than happy to help you out with tactics, hands-on advice and marks, maybe you meet up with them for a session or two and a bit of craic or just browse the reports sections here to find what you need.
Enjoy your stay and tight lines
Martin.

hello kentwhite
i would like to say i know a spot but we always dig in galway bay before heading out there - check the western regional fisheries website - they sometimes mention spots for digging
however they can be unreliable - hopefully someone like gfkelly might let you in on a spot for lug near by or some other local poster on the site
may even be out that side come the 22nd

A guy I know digs lug just down from the graveyard in Leenane village, gets plenty there. I'd say the estuary of the Culfin River near Lettergesh would be a good spot too, saw plenty of casts there any time I had a look.

Thanks for the advice folks, The Church in Leenan is right next to the cottage we've rented for the week so I'll go take a looksee on the shoreline.
Here's hoping the Irish weather holds good for the week, else we'll be holed up in Gaynors all week !
Cheers
