I reckon somewhere between 20 - 30lb braid would be about right, I use 30lb Powerpro myself and find it great. I use both the moss green and the white stuff and they both work equally well, maybe its just me but I really don't buy into the theory behind the red stuff at least not for this application anyway.

i use 20lbs power pro moss green, with about 2 foot 15lbs flouro leader (handy in case of snags so leader will give before braid)

I use 8 and 10 lb if I expect small fish, 15 and 20 for bigger. I don't think the colour matters. The strength will also depend on your rod/reel set-up, the sort of lures you'll be using (and their weight)... I find it's a matter of compensating it all to fish as comfy as possible. What's your rod's length and weight, action, casting weight range? What reel (and weight) will you be using?
I was assuming you are thinking of using lures/spinners.

20 lb powerpro is ok for your needs 30 is a bit too much for lighter lures any lighter and windknots can be a problem my 2 cents worth, i use amnesia for a leader in 15 lb my 2.5 cents worth

(its cheap

I second that, 20lb would be enough for macks, pollock and bass.

Not so sure, I have gone down to 8lb and haven't had that problem, but I was using a shorter rod and light reel.
