galway ray advice urgently needed

Wed Jul 15, 2009 1:14 pm

Howya lads heading too galway this saturday for a days fishing with have too meet up with one of my mates that lives there bring him fishing while the molly's have their chin wag (sure who would want too listen too that!!!) I am on the hunt for my first ray seen reports of some nice ray catchs in that area posted over the last while can anyone let me know if they know of anywhere that might produce? i would say it will have too be a rock mark with deep water if possible as I dont think I will catch great tides most of which will be the going out.

I will be in and around the salthill area.
Thanks a million for any advise...
Dave.

Thanks corbyeire
As of yet have nothing too go on, conamara is the best leed so far, anything else you have would be great no need too give percise mark if you dont want too but general area would be great, point again too the tides I am stuck with.
Only fished the area once for about 3 hours not a tap
I would say You have just saved me a dirty big galway blank number 2 on the salthill strand.
Thanks again.

Dave

as corbyeire said if you want ray head for conemara,i fish a mark here in clifden that produces a lot of ray but i have not fished it too often this year because i am sick of catching ray   trying for new species now
most sessions this time last year i caught 2 ray each session, best session i had was 18 ray
i fished it on the 24 june and caught 2 ray you can see the report here viewtopic.php?f=3&t=22096&p=170840&hilit=clifden#p170840

it should produce ray any time the tide is flowing in or out, best time on Saturday would be from 15:00 to 20:00 on the outgoing tide
its a rock mark fishing in to clean ground
mackerel is the best bait, old frozen stuff works best for me
i use 3 hook mackerel feathers baited with the mackerel and use 3,4 or 5oz leads, the beach bomb leads not grip weights
its a nice handy mark with not too much walking, only 250 m

you could also try the white lady, you can see map here http://www.cfb.ie/fishing_in_ireland/se ... lifden.doc they say the white lady is best on low tide,i tried it a few times but never had a bite  others on the site did very good there

if you want to try it i will pm you the details and a map,
might even fish the mark over the weekend myself, might see you there

if you don't get a ray at this mark you are better off selling your rods
