tactics and species

Will be shore fishing from the beach for most of the weekend along the nth dublin coast, bait will be rag, lug and maybe tipped with Mackeral sometimes. Am I right in thinking that I'm really only going to have a chance at flatties this time of year? Are there any other species around the beaches that I have a chance at? How could I vary my tactics to increase my chances of getting at least 1 or 2 other species?

Does anyone have a link where I can see how a good float rig is made up?

cheers

your only realistic chance is of a few flounder. these beaches are shallow and dont really hold good quantities of any other species.

youd also have a very very outside chance of a sea trout or an early bass.

I went portmarnock on friday, caught nothing but a tan ! Then i tried a new spot I'd been recommended to on Saturday in skerries, caught nothing there but a Dunlin? (seabird) A flock kept flying low in close to the shore, bang and one gets tangled up in my line ! I've to wade out and cut the tangled line from the poor little critter !

I'll try donabate on monday, there seems to be more action (little that it is!) there than any other spot in north dublin that I've tried.

comin' down?
