well it all depends n wat your fishing for and wat bait you are using. For flatties i use between 4s and 1/0 for just any thing that comes along i d use a 2/0 or a 3/0 and for bass and ray a 4/0 to a 6/0 and as for the make i d use kasman abreedeen b940 how this helps you

its mainly bass fishing i do and only use size 2's as theres usually a few flatties around too. the ones i get are mustad aberdeens in packs of 25s. not sure of the ref. no. but their a greyish colour. ive had a Bass over 8lbs on them and the hook was ok to use again.
everyones different tho and will tell you different ones to use. its all down to preferance

Sakuma hooks are good I use mantas in the bigger sizes and phantoms in the smaller ones. They are very sharp but there is a tendancy for the odd one to break, lost a good hound recently

For the bigger fish. sakuma Manta's are hard to beat. for small flatties I use Mustad (they come in a box of 30), I cant remember the serial number of them but they are the finest wire I have ever used.

varivas saltwater champions or big mouth extras u cant beat them

If you're after flats the UKHooks gold aberdeens E202 are worth a go. Must be the turned in point but I get very few deep hooked fish with these.

Cox and Rawle for the bigger hooks - unbeatable. You'd be able to pull a boat with the 5/0's!

Having a lot of issues now with sakuma hooks breaking when they should not i.e. small fish on a float rig. These hooks seem to a one fish then discard, they are too expensive for that.

I read somewhere on here about those Owner pint hooks, and figured anything refering to a pint must be good, but I done exactly the same as you, fekin broke the hook just tightening the knot
