just been told about an angler who when feathering for mackrel uses a dexter lure instead of a weight in the hope that there is bass among the shoals, when i think of it it makes perfect sense, what you lot think about that one

i have used different lures on the feathers when i was out of weights, caught pollack with them, makes sense alright

I regularly use a condor bar on the bottom of em... works well, pollock, extra big mack etc..

i tried it a few times but never got anything but macks on the lure.

used to always put a german sprat or a dexter on, took a good few small pollock on them

have lost 3 big dexter wedges doing that, but on the other hand, have caught some big macs. Bass..not yet.

from a boat yeah but rarely from shore unless it's snagg free, but never with the intention of bass. something to think about!

When I'm fishing for Pollack from the shore I always split a pack of feathers in half, then put two hooks above the lure. It seems to intice the fish to feed I think? I've seen guys doing something similar for sea trout, they put a dropper just above the lure...

if i'm spinning for mackerel i'll often use a feather as a dropper above a toby or similar lure. It looks like the toby is chasing the feather and majority of my fish will take the feather in competition. Great fun when you get 2 macks at the same time on the light gear. Have used it for bass but probably not as much as i should with no success. Will try it out again soon.

Can some one give me a pointer on where to find images on how to make this type of rig. I will be spinning but uncertain how to attach extras to a lure ( toby or a wedge )..

Anthony
