Fishing in the rain?

How'ya lads?

Another noob question, just curious bout peoples fishing habits, especially when it is raining!

Went out and bought meself some good quality raingear today! Don't intend to be put off by a bit of rain. What about you guys? If it's pissin' out do you normally give it a miss or are u willing to get out anyway? Assuming it's not blowin' a gale of course! Is it any more likely the fishing will be better? Or is it just a complete pain in the bollox in the rain and not worth the hassle?

personaly i dont think the rain makes any difference but others might disagree . the fish are wet anyway . i got some good rain gear a while back and the rain hasnt put me off since. it can be a bit much tho if the wind is in your face and its also raining.

my dad sells waterproof workwear sothe rain don t bother me and i don t think that the rain makes much of a differences

I suppose the smart play would be to stick to a pier though instead of clambering over some rocks!

A beach buddy is a super investment if you plan to do a good bit of fishing in the rain (and/or wind), more than anything it allows you to keep your gear laid out well and out of the wet/wind, as well as providing a wee bit of shelter for yourself

I've found there is nothing worse than when baiting up etc, having to get all your bait/rigs etc out of the box, and then having to put it all away again before you even cast out.

The beach buddy is a massive help, and not overly expensive.

Once you have one, you'll wonder how you ever managed without.

I did a bit of that before I got the buddy, chasing the elusive double figure dollymount bass, all I got for my trouble was as few silver eels

er i disagree only on one type of venue, if there is alot of rain then then any bay with a river entering it will have a lot of freshwater entering it, especially after a long spells of rain, this can put salt water fish off(except flounder), apart from that i find a bit of rain does no harm.

ps before a thunderstorm i find sliver eels bite more, anyone else notice this?

i prefer fishng in the rain, because it means that sometimes you can have a popular mark all to yourself

Trout fishing works better in the rain. Because the trout expect flies to be drown and fall on the water surface.

I would imagine it would be the same for Mullet and sea trout in the surf.

Get the gear on and off you go. You never know what you might catch, but you need to be out there. Like someone else said, at least when its raining, you get more room for yourself

If I see an overcast misty/rainy day with clear water conditions......get in there...! Can be great.
But yeah, fishing close to an eastaury can be ruined with heavy rain in my experience so it depends on where you are fishing. The rain never puts me off, gale force winds can ruin a well planned fishing weekend...!

I had my best day fishing in the pouring rain
Was lashing down buckets and had drove over two hours to a pier mark and decided ah well drove to far to not fish so got totally soaked but pulled in a bull huss and several dogs and pollock. Had a great day fishing

Mind you it rains so much down here that you would't know!!
