Hi to all the board contributors, ive found the site really interesting. Ive been trout n salmon fishing for years and want to go back to my roots...i.e sea fishing. In particular Im interested in exploring the west coast in the pursuit of bass.....they must be out there somewhere

. Id appreciate any kind of a heads up from anyone that knows the coastline and is happy to share knowledge of spots, tides, best baits etc. Thanks and keep up the contributions guys

welcome to the site galwaydude
best of luck with the bass hunt,i think you will need lots of luck.not easy get them
some web sites say bass can be got in Kilkieran and Camus bays, the beach below Barna ,Seaweed Point and between Blackrock and Salthill and At New Quay, Rynn Point
i heard of them caught around Blackrock before i don't know about the other places
i think i may have hooked one twice in clifden bay last year, got the fish close to shore but lost it,it looked like a bass but might have been a sea trout could not tell for sure it was spinning around very fast and put up a good fight
i met a old man a few weeks later and he said the spot was good for bass when he was younger
i hope to try the spot at the weekend before the bass ban comes in if the weather is ok

they are extremely rare around connemara and galway bay
rogues turn up from time to time - but could never really be worth the fishing effort
you would be better off trying from fanore in north clare and keep going SOUTH!!!
