Changing to multiplier reel?

Well i bass fish on clean beaches and have collected some decent rods some of which are rung for multiplier a greys bze 12' 6'' and a zziplex 11' 6'' bass what would be a good multiplier to try out with these as a complete novice with the multi.? though io have nice fixed spool reels it seems to me i should check out a multi any recommendations that wont break the bank and allow me to discover whether i should change over pat

Alot of guys will say get one of these if your starting out, seem to cast very well straight out of the box.

for what its worth i use a 6500ct mag elite with my bze,its a nicely balanced outfit that brings a bit of fun back into fishing when you get a hook up of any size .Don't be daunted if it takes a bit of getting used to the multi set up,just take it slowly and you'll be fine
Tight lines

Why change and go to great expense? fixed spools are a better all round reel and a lot less troublesome, gone are the days of the so called mangle most fixed spools are pretty good now.
With the spool design and line lay they deliver much smaller coils of line which are more useable on multiplier rods, i have used multiplier rods with fixed spools for years now with no ill affects.
Now i know the officanidos will be wretching at this set up (multiplier rod fixed spool reel) but if it works wheres the problem.
So i say save yourself a lot of expense and hassel an stick with what you have or buy a better fixed spool reel.

one small tip for you.
get a tennis ball and cut a small hole in it.
get a large treble and put some heavy(60-70lb) line onto it.
stick the treble into the opposite side of where the hole is and feed the line up thru the hole.
fill the tenis ball with silicone till it gets to the weight you want.
let it set and put a swivel on to the line and its perfect for practice casting.

i did my one to about 140grams. its perfect for fields and beaches as it doesnt stick into the ground like a lead and is easy to retrieve. i laughed when i was told this but got sick of trying to pull a lead out of 6inches of mud so gave it a go. it only takes 2 minutes to do.

i'd concur with the 6500 or 7ht type/size reels. i use them all the time for everything from boat fishing to float fishing to freelining (ambassadeur 2500c). if you like using them, use them, if you don't, then don't, but why not try everything anyway so you can make an informed decision. maybe you can pick up a clean second hand one on the internet.

i have a thread posting somewhere about switching and some gotchas elsewhere if you search for it. they're not hard to use.

one point to watch - perhaps true of all casting - do practice at night too, particularly if you're like me and throw the brake blocks away, disengage the mags and rely on timing, spool sound, and visuals to control the cast. it can be very different between throwing a lead (or a tennis ball) around the fields at Cuala in Dalkey one bright evening and then swinging it in the dark on a beach....

so p1ss3d off that Lidl don't sell any casting multipliers.
