any one try deep fishing killary fjord?

Mon Apr 27, 2009 1:41 am

just wondering if any one ever tried fishing the deeper marks in the fjord,i am told its 45 m in the middle
i would think that some of the good casters on the site could hit the middle seeing that the fjord at its widest is about half a mile wide
what species would you get at 45m and what size
looking forward to any comments ye may have

Howdy Gerry, i haven't fished it myself but anyone i've asked about it said its a tackle grave yard due to the way the shoreline drops off in a series of steps. That said there are a couple of spots that are fishable if your prepared to lose some gear, i think the "crow" has fished there i'm sure he'll fill you in

Saltydog's right Gerry, better of go down, throw all your gear in and slope off to Hamiltons for a pint - a lot less frustrating than fishing it. :D :D :D

thanks for the advice conor
i don't mind losing some gear,i just curse and go to the bag for a new rig,its all part of the fun  of fishing
might make up 20 rigs and try it out and when i have lost them all i will head to Hamiltons for a pint for every rig i lost :D
i am interested to see if any big fish in 45m of water and different species then what is normally caught from the shore

hi

on the northern shore there is a small island at the end of a long walk ona sheep trail off the road to the wee harbour! Try there - but you will be fishing onto mud in which tube worms have built massive heavy colonies so everything on the bottom has to have weak links. Very asy to fall in so care required on the grass and then rocks. Rays and huss to 10 lb + possible

FWIW
