baitholder hooks

ok so they may be old fashioned and around for years but i must admmit i ,m getting hooked on em ,for rag they hold the worm well ,they stop big lug masking the hookpoint and keep squid on too ,why did i ever stop using them

most of the traditional baitholder sea hooks also tend to be stronger, really helps for all those little coalies, whiting and flounder that make up so much of our catches through the year!

They work ok with fresh mackerel for presenting the bait without elastic (Very handy in small sizes for small flats) but the mustad ones are brittle and have a massive barb. Had them break off in congers mouths. Only hooks avaible to me back in the 80s but there are far superior hooks on the market these days. I have a a few packs of 2/0 and 3/0s (bought because they was nothing else in the tackle shop) that are around 5 years old and I'll never use. If Varivas big mouths did a version I'd use them.
