Now i realise this could be a matter of preference but I would like to ask the question when is best to fish morning or evening.
This is when the tide is right etc e.g high just before dusk or spring just as sunrise etc.
I am mainly wondering for following species and for the purpose of lure fishing
Pollack
Bass
Mackerel
any help appreciated

Mackerel fishing is definately 100% better at first light. I believe this to be the best time for all fish but its bloody hard to get out of bed at 4am.

I was looking at this recently. I have caught more bass first thing in the morning than last thing at night when plugging - ratio of about 3-1.
However when fishing with Bait I have caught more in the evening than morning, however these are usually after last light rather than the last hour before dusk.

I've found that the evening is better for pollack. I also find it easier to fish in the evening - you really need to concentrate your time with the fading light. In the morning, I just don't know when first light actually ends, and the thought of having to work after it doesn't help either.
For mackerel, I'd say it's a bit better in the morning, though not hugely. I haven't caught enough bass to draw any real conclusions yet.
