Do you really think that they'd be back in so early?

Hi

It depends on where you are. Waters will warm quickest in the SW and along the Atlantic coast... so wrasse will move inshore (on some marks they are often present intermittently over the winter in good spells of weather) and I have had macks on Easter monday on several years recently when it fell early in April. Try for them if we get 4/5 days of decent weather.

Pollack have been inshore on some marks since February, its a myth about them disappearing.

FWIW

I went out yesterday evening too a mark that I've fished only once before, I'll try to post up pic's of the spot. It 'looks like a place that should be bounce'n with Pollack and Wrasse during the summer, according to the depth charts the water off these rocks is around 50ft to 60ft deep but I didnt get one bit yesterday! TBH im not surprised, all I had was Mack for bait, I was fishing about an hour either side of low tide and I think its still about a month too early but as Arnie says I'll be back!

If it's mullet your after I believe that they are present at the moment (in large shoals I've heard) in Saleens at the Tramore backstrand

HI I've found that the pollack dont completely disappear from the rough ground. I have caught pollack from rock marks on 31 dec and a few times this last month! though tackle loss can be heavy as you search through the kelp beds for them they seem to lay deeper, possible to keep out of the rough swell?

wrasse have started to appear in and around the down coastline and there have been good pollack caught as well. just have a look at some of the reports from that direction
