The harbour isn't the best at the mo unless your lookin pouting or a conger give it a month or 2 and the wrasse will be bac on the feed. as for rays me and couple of other people from my club (CBARSAC) have found dead cuckoo rays watched up on the beach at low water and on the big low tide there is what looks like ray holes on the sand bar about 300+ yards out and i know what a flattie hole looks like and if it is flats makin the holes there some size of fish

Very interesting Jonny, I remember when I was younger seeing a ray at an old wooden pier close to Holywood and I thought then about ray fishing in belfast lough. I suppose you just never know.

ah the fishermans key, its a waste of time really unless you fish it in the winter at nite and you may get whitng and coalies. i personally haven't caught anythin off it. i would tend to stick to the harbour or the middle of the prom where the wee river is.

my grandad is a commercial fishing creels in strangford lough, but he was the first to fish belfast lough, he didnt tell anyone about the rays in the lough, but a fisherman saw him in the lough and he ended up fishing it and told everyone else about the rays in it, so they were nearly wiped out in a matter of years, but apparently there were loads around ballyholme, carrickfergus, holywood and at the mouth of the lagon.
you never know they may be making an appearance again.
