What species and where do you think I should best try?
thanks

Me and a mate spent a weekend camping there last summer. Stay away from fintra beach. We spent 2 nights on it trying all methods and bait, and didn't get a single bite. We may have just been unlucky. The harbour will throw up all that dan has mentioned. The eastern side of killybegs has some good marks, down as far as the gun well, but i found the ground to be very rough. We had some excellent wrasse down there, up to 4lbs. These were all caught on rag right beneath our feet. The same can be said for St John's point, very rough ground, but excellent for wrasse and pollack close in. I gave up fishing at distance due to tackle losses. You could head out to Teelin. Fishing off the pier is only good night for conger, but if you walk over the hill to right at the bginning of the pier, there is a very accessible deep water mark. This will throw up many common species. Hope this is of help.

No point in trying any of the marks til later in the month.
But if you want to try something.
You want to get out the coast as close as you can to the new Pier.
They won't let you on the new pier(oil boats and windmills), which is some of the best shore fishing i've ever had in Donegal.
