while out in the shed, i noticed a sand eel net i made a couple of years ago.
its a pole with a rectangle on the end then a length of old keep net about 3 feet long attached to the open rectangle.
You push it ahead of you over sandy shallow water and hopefully catch sand eel.
I tried a few times, got some sea weed and a baby squid and one sand eel and lots of tiny shrimp......
Did anyone else make one of these and have any luck, or will i put it on ebay!!!

Dunner,
fine for shrimps, not for sandeels! You need a proper net for sandeels, as in a long one that one person would hold in the shore and another would circle (preferably with a boat) out and around the eels. If the water is very clear they can be hard to get, even with the proper net. theres a few fellas that net them in tramore with the proper nets and they get a good lot of eels at times.

Ah!
exactly why I made the net... a certain beach in cork I fish... at exactly those conditions...when wading in to cast a line ...the eels come out from under your feet... big ones too!!
Maybe a two man operation... with a bigger net....
No license needed or any of that stuff needed I presume?

, u dont need a licence, an the net is ok. u might want to put a purse on the end, stop em escapeing, if you take yur time and look closely u shoud see lots of heads n tail stickin out of the sand, pinch em.
