Just wondering lads if there is anywhere good for getting monkfish from the shore? I've heard the Cork coast is the best but anyone know of any marks?

Tralee
But no one going to give you much info because of the problem of netting

forget about tralee anyway.
they used to be pretty plentiful but in recent times they've been decimated even from the small boats they seem to be a thing of the past.

The bottom of Belfast Lough used to be carpeted with Monkfish. The commercials always caught tons but I never saw one caught on rod & line. That was 20 years ago.

I think you guys are getting mixed up with angler fish , the commercials call them monkfish but they're actually angler fish (which belfast lough holds the british and irish records for).
The monkfish is a totally different type of fish ,was there not one caught last year from galway bay by a guy boat fishing not far from the shore .
