Google Earth update

Has anyone with the version of Google Earth tried the new undersea features of Google Earth?
Is it worth downloading?

Looks like it could be a very handy tool for exploring beyond the low water line and especially for boat anglers finding features.
http://earth.google.com/ocean/ the video is best viewed without sound because it's very annoying.

yeah, I've tried it, not great for round here anyway :( seems to be a flat plain all around

certain satisfaction in diving under the water and seeing some of the other features around the world and has some wrecks and buoys etc marked on it (no idea how good the positioning is though).

This might be worth a look as well, although it only covers a few areas.

I think it was only launched very recently and the plan is for all the areas to be gradually filled in with more detail.
Not much chance of the lot of us sharing all our secret gullies and undersea rock features then :?: 8)

I can't remember where I found that site but it looks fairly impressive alright. Just to explain what it is, its basically a plug in for Google Earth based on Irish Seabed data from the Irish National Seabed Survey. Unfortunately the areas covered are limited but it does appear to be reasonably detailed.
