Fishing North Dublin

Hi Guys,
I haven't been living in North Dublin long and have been round to Malahide a few times and have had no
luck. I am after Bass, Cod or anything that takes a few wraggs.
Does anyone know of a few known spots in North Dub.
I am also looking to buy some wragg, or bait if anyone can tell me where to get it,it will be much appreciated.

Google "fishing tackle shop, dublin" and you'll get a list of tackle shops throughout the city, call them to see who has the bait you need, it is usually wise to pre-order it so as to guarantee you'll have it for when you want to fish, as shops can soon run out.

One word of advice, when buying fresh worm baits, always check the bait is live and fresh before you leave the shop. It has been know for shops to sell dead worm baits before now, and the onus is always on you to check it.

From what (little) I know, there's little chance of catching decent bass or cod around the northside of dublin this time of year, plenty of small whiting, flats, rockling etc

I'm not fishing long myself but North Dublin is not the greatest at the moment. I normally head to Wicklow or Wexford in the summer. For bait you could look at http://www.henrystackleshop.com/. You might not get rag for a while but they do bait. As Shamoo said better to ring first.

you might want to try the bull wall i heard there was cod taken there, there are 2 the best one is the one you enter from the the south link toll beside the point depot and fish from behind the light house, you can park at the end of the wall for free and walk up the wall which takes about 15 mins, but i did notice the last time i was there there was a heavy surf hitting the nearby beach maybe you find your bass therer, good luck anyway n maybe i see u there as i getting very fond of the place myself

As said you can find rags at Henry's tackle shop but the best is to phone before.
For the fishing, I've found myself after moving from Killiney to Malahide that the fishing around north Dublin is not more difficult but different...
It's more unregular, the tides' currents are stronger and the beaches shallower and the crabs are pests ... Around Malahide, Howth and a few beaches there's some good fishing, sometime very good, but it's more difficult to predict if the fishing will be good or not (I think). You can hit a mark, have a very good session, go back a couple of times with the same conditions and blanked each time... But, on this stretch of coast I've caught smoothhound, bass, sea trout, gunard, codling, mackerel, pollack, flounder, doogies and too many withing (with good ones some evening around the 30cm mark)...At this time of year, for me the best is to hit deep water mark (around Howth head for example...), maybe try to fish some beaches at low tide (you get more deeper water), because with the cold the more the water is shallow the more the fish are sensible to the cold. I think this part of the coast have suffer from the professional fishermen, the bottom is badly degraded, so I think fishes just pass here or come at special moment (like crab moulting)...But there is definitely some good sessions to do here but you must be prepared to blank... If you live in Swords or Malahide it's also very handy for a quick session...I've not fish since three weeks because of a breakdown with the car (and as I am from the south of France sometimes in the evening it's too cold for me ), but next time I can send you a pm....Cheers...
