shipping gear is best to put the rods in a good rod tube ,check out the cost for out sized luggage/sports goods and get the weight ,then you can fill the rod tube with pirks shads etc as well as the rods ,they used to only charge for the rod tube regardless of weight up to a limit of course ,so you might as well get as much free as possible
