just a thought,
have we an explosive population/plague! of whiting due to the lack of cod and other predatory/commercial fish which would naturally feed on young whiting, or is there
some other issue causing this? if so any ideas?
what are these whiting feeding on? EVERYTHING!! and will this be detrimental to other species
competing for the same diet? i think so!
if so will this cause another species to dwindle due
to these whiting eating everything going? i think so!
the whole food chain is being rearranged under our noses as we complain about the
assaults on our bait by whiting or crabs (less now due to whiting!)
will the annoying crab be next? followed by what? less crab, even less cod!!!!
should we catch-and-release whiting?
or maybe use them for bait tipped with more favoured choice or oil soaked to enhance
their bait quality?
i think the thoughts of going fishing with whiting as bait might turn you off or maybe you
might just catch more whiting all night! :L
anyone willing to try a trip with whiting as bait even on their second rod as a survey????????
i'm gonna try it next trip to greystones, once i catch my first whiting :L:L

and i'd hardly call a doggie a predator, more like a scavenger extraordinaire
