have the shakespere salt mpv 10ft 2 in 2-4oz and the salt beach fs 12ft 4-8oz i know this is not what you asked, but have fished all year with these rods and have to say the salt series seem to be a brilliant make of rod,the mpv i use as a spinning rod/float rod mostly, and you could cast with it all day! lovely tippy, well balanced rod,and dealt with a 12.5 huss no prob! The fs is a good strong rod, mabye a bit on the small side for distance casting but well built and a lot lighter than other rods ive used! hope this helps!

i'd say it would be spot on for what you want it for, fishing for bass with crab baits in close or messing about on the rocks for whatever pops along, theres a flattie rod too in the range., its a bit lighter than the bass version

Ya i have seen the flattie one seems very light think il go for the bass one and match it with a good fixed spool reel either a leeda or okuma thanks for the advice eric and everyone else
