Mullet fishing in Donegal?

#1 Post by markj »

Does anyone know a good spot to fish mullet in donegal?
What tactics work best and what time of year would be the best time?

At least june before you'll see any. There are shoals that appear around the pier at Culdaff. Never fished for them myself but there looks some good size fish amoung them.

Plenty of mullet throughout Donegal. Most of the estuaries hold them. Anywhere you get a sewage discharge pipe you'll also find concentrations, anywhere fish is being processed and the waste being discharged you'll also get em. Small numbers will arive in April, although I've seen the odd one in March, their numbers will grow until late Sept when you'll see a decline begin to set in. Killybegs harbour is a decent spot.
