If you use the search tap at the top of the page, I'm sure I remember seeing a post about this a few months ago.
Lots of tips on it regarding the best way to catch them.

As Mark said there was a good post a couple of months ago on the topic, should be fairly easy to find if you do a search.
The first job is to find a location that holds razorfish. Then visit the area at LW on a big spring tide ( only occur a few times a year). Walk backwards along the razor beds and you will see the razorfish shoot out a jet of water, It will leave a keyhole shaped depression behind. Pour some table salt into the hole or a strong saltwater solution. Within no time it will come to the surface. Try finding a razor bed that has fairly dry sand as this makes the job an awful lot easier.
I have ben looking at the tides for the next few months and I doubt that you would be able to reach any razor beds. Usually some dencent sized springtides around April.

ok, cheers lads. can they be bought in a fish mongers or is it just tackle shops??

red, depends were you are based I guess.
There is a fish mongers on the pier in Howth, Nth Dublin that has them for sale and they are fresh, I tend to find tackle shops are extremely expensive by comparision. This is the only fish mongers around dublin that I have found them in for sale, so perhaps they are not commonly found for sale other than in tackle shops.

I havn't seen them in the English market - although I wouldn't have been looking for them.
The Cork Angling Centre out near the Kinsale roundabout have them for € 4.40 a pack, usually about 4 in a pack or maybe 5 if they are small.

Its not the ease of catching them thats the problem its the amount of times a year you can actually do it!! As the lads have just said youre probably not going to get any suitable tides until early next year to do it. But as for the location to do it, the best one and probably the one that every one knows and uses is a bank of them that can be found just to the left of the carpark before you turn the bend that takes you into the naval base in Haulbowline. You need below a 0.2 tide ideally. Not too sure exacty when but there will be one day in particular next year that will be around a 0.1. Bingo!!! Stock up cos they are excellent quality razor there. You wont find them in the English Market.

There's also one other spot in the harbour
