Morning.

As above based on your experiences, must be :
Light so I can hold all day in the surf.
Stiffish/good back bone while retainging good bite detection , I dont like floppy rods ;)
Cast 2 - 4oz.
Rugged, going to be used alot, at least once a week. !

So far Ive had a go of :

MTI Bass
Peen Power Stix Bass.
Tip Tornado Lite.

Cheers.

Have ya had a look at the century ccc ld just recently got one myself. Seems the business now light enough to hold all night weighs about 26 ozs. It seems tough enough to put up with alot of abuse. Planning on using it for the same craic myself hopefully give it a blast over the weekend.

Take a look at the Shimano Nexave Bass, I use it for the surf & flounder fishing, also doubles nicely touch legering for wrasse. Won't break the bank either and is well built, fuji guides etc. Joe Byrne has a few in stock in courtown aswell.

Another decent one at a reasonable price is the daiwa TDSS bass, does everything you want really.

Danny,

I bought a Daiwa Supercast specifically for Bass a few months ago. It is one of the best rods I have ever fished with. The rod is 11ft 6in. Its rated to cast 2-4 ozs and you can fish it with multiplier or fixed spool. I fish both on it, I have a Penn Surmaster 750 and a Millionaire Tournament. Both reels fish equally well. I have fished it over rough ground in estuaries for bass, over sand for bass and flatties, off rocks for pollack and wrasse, and over slob for flatties and its GREAT fun to use. The rod is very well finished and its light, Ive held it all night a few times. The tip is very sensitive so flattie bites show up brilliantly but its got loads of power aswell. Ive spoken to several bass anglers and i havent heard a complaint about it yet. The rod was 160 euros online including delivery and I had it in 3 days!!! One of the best Bass rods on the market and certainly the best for its price range.

If you like Century rods then I would go for either the TT Lite in 13 foot or the TT Lite in 10'11.

I have both and they are great. You could hold either all day. I prefer the feel of the shorter rod if i am going to be holding it for a while.
Light slim and pretty powerful, great bite detection and will cast 2 or 4 oz all day.

Just my 0.02c

zipplex powertex bass all the way you could hold this rod all week never mind one night super bite detc and plenty of power this rod will easily cast over 200yrds just as easily as it will cast 10yrds only one thing about it is it is that thin its hard to get coasters for it a bit dearer than the others but is well worht it (carlsberg dont do bass rods but if they did............)

if it is century you like you could try the ultralite. have one myself for bass fishing and couldnt recomend them highly enough. light, a little stiffer than some of the specific rods mentioned and enough backbone to fish all dy with a 5 oz lead

I use a ugly stick carp rod 3lb test and have had no problem with bass or anything else, casts perfect and 3-4oz with bait, light and doubles as my light beach rod now for flatties.

Danny,

I wanted a rod for similar purposes as yourself, also for a bit of scratching...fishing close in, say 100 yards in, targetting bass, flatties etc

I picked up a conoflex foo fighter ff1 at the weekend, its rated for 100gm, but seems to handle 4oz well.

I've only had 3 sessions with it, but its a very light rod to hold, nice and slim, and holds very well in the wind (I was out with it yesterday and it was blowing a gale).

Its a bit longer (than the others mentioned) at 4.5m, but I chose it cos it will help to keep the rod tip high so as to help keep the line out of the weed and above the breaking waves.

I may be down in wexford over the next few weeks, or if your up in Dublin, your welcome to have a chuck with it.

Mark
