If you're getting the Ian Golds rest, its also worth getting a leg-lock kit.
If you want the flexibility to switch from a single to double cup rest you can get the attachments. Only takes a minute to switch over the cups.

Hey mate. I been using a shakespear one for years with no problems but i've just bought a new Imax one. This thing is Gucci kit and well worth £35. It has 2 rod holders adjustable legs and extending leg locking kit which works like a piston and they're anodised to protect the metal. Check them out before you buy! Highly recomended

Hey mate. Send me a pm with an e mail address and i'll take some pics of the Imax stand so you can have a good look and make your mind up first. The Ian Golds stuff is good quality also as the rest of the guy's have already said but in my opinion this is even better. I wouldn't have bought it otherwise.

JAMMYJOE,
"I wouldn't have bought it otherwise." when you've had your Imax for 10 years or more, like some of the guys on here then you can give advice thats worthwhile mate. It was only 3 years ago that Ian Golds had to take an injunction out against Imax to stop them from copying his tripods, if that tells you anything
Tom.

Well Tom i didn't realise that kit had to be tested for 10 years in order to check it's quality. As i said in an earlier post, i have used a Shakespear rod rest for about 15 years with no problems but that dosen't mean that it's as good as the new Imax one. I saw a Golds rest and an Imax one side by side in the shop and bought what i thought was the better product if that tells you anything and with about 30 years angling experience i would like to think that my advice is worthwhile.

I take it all back! you are obviously an expert, having used a Shakespeare rod rest for the last 15 years
Tom.

C'mon now lads we all have our own personal opinions and favorites at the end of the day and we should respect this.
I suppose we all know the ian golds stand has been tried and tested along with shakespeare. The imax one looks the business alright but we'll have to see if it stands the test of time.
Personally i use the ian golds super match and find it faultless really.

Has anyone ever used the Veals PRO Tripod? They seem to be quite similar to the
Parker ones. I'm considering getting one and liked the fact that its got no plastic bits on it, I'm just wondering how it compares with the Ian Golds ones and if its worth the extra money?
