Jellyfish mass occurrences

I am looking for information on mass occurrences of the jellyfish Pelagia notiluca (the mauve stinger)around the Irish coast, in particluar I am looking for current information as to when and where they are occurring as I want to collect specimens for further study. I am involved in an MSc. with NUIG focusing on two species of jellyfish Pelagia notiluca and Aurelia aurita (moon jelly) and in particular establishing techniques for their culture. I would be very appreciative of any information that forum members have in relation to either of these two species but in particular P. notiluca as it is harder to get specimens for study. Thanks.

I was fishing on Bull island at the end of July after an esterly blow and the high water mark was litteraly covered by (it seems to me) the two last species of jellyfish on your photos.... There was hundreds of them... Hope this will help you...

Have you any photos of them washed up on sand, that's the only way I ever see them.

Is the mauve stinger the only purple one, as there's often plenty of them washed up near Clifden in summertime...
