Thinking of heading up towards Waterfoot Cusendall on friday
night and was wondering if anybody knew what the weathers
going to be like, caught a shed load last time on Waterfoot
beach using rag and mack, hoping to try out frozen lug and
frozen crab this time, anyone had any luck on these baits
up there? I've never used crab before...........................

Waterfoot can produce well at times with Lug if you can get your hands on it and Rag just cut about 1/2 inch from the hook point on a size 2/0.
The water is flat calm down there this evening it would need to rain a fair bit more for it to produce a few Cod as it did lately and get a bit of colour in the water.

Minty I have never had any luck with the frozen Lug or Peeler crab. I also think they are very expensive as well.
We had a decent enough session on the beach and the pier last saturday. The biggest hooks I normally use at waterfoot pier is size 1's and always have rag and mackerel as bait. If you check out our post on waterfoot pier there was a fella who caught a decent pollock on mackerel tail. good luck mate, let us know who ya get on!

I may be on waterfoot beach myself on Friday. And i would always try to have rag with me for the flatties. Sandeel, squid or mack would also be a good bet to use also.. Not so sure about the weather though, it may be wet n windy.

if you're gonna fish the beach and you get down early enough take a garden fork and you can dig fresh lug there and always take mackeral cuz it out fishes everything on the right night. You might even be lucky enough to pick up a ray or a spur

There are better places to dig for lug than waterfoot beach, the lug there are small and need to mature and breed but they are also in small supply and should be left for the mercy of mother nature and not abused by anglers.

I have heard of the ray being caught of waterfoot beach never spur's though. Would love to catch a spur dog. I have never seen anyone dig lug on that beach
