Hi taz,

Kells Bay is only a short drive down the road from you. Good rock fishing on both sides of the bay with the western side more difficult but more rough ground for pollack, wrasse & congers. On the eastern side a moderate cast will put you out onto sand, sometimes it's alive with dogs but there are good dab/pout/flats to be found here with some pollack to 5lbs and plenty of wrasse closer in. Mackerel will shor most evenings.

If there's a surf running Rossbeigh beach itself can be very good. This time of year fish either at the corner of the main beach near the rocks or a couple of hundred yards up there is the wreck of an old boat, out from the boat are sandeel beds, use fish baits here to have a better chance of a turbot, there's always sea trout on this beach in season too. The groyne at the back throws up lots of tiny wrasse with bass, mullet, sea trout and even the possibility of a big stinger if you fish out onto the sand here. I know an angler who swears there's good congers 20lbs+ available at the groyne after dark but I have never tried it.

Culoo rock in Valentia for mackerel by the bucket load! Along with the usual rock species small ling to 5lbs can be taken as well. Oh and keep your eyes open, at this time of year we can get squid here some days also, big ones, that fight! Great fun.
