http://www.torbayfishing.com/rigs/pulley-rig.htm

This site has a couple of different rigs and how to use them. Funny thing is if you buy a pre-made trace some of them have on the back the sizes and lengths of line to use.

Ok I'm a cheat

i heard that runnin legers do well with a pennal rig

I would agree that a running leger is ideal for close in work and maybe the pulley rig for longer distance perhaps

ok anyone got a diagram of a running ledger rig, is that where the weight sits above the hook but there is a bit of play between both, throwing away my chicken bone hooks :D

 I was only showing an example of the diagrams on the back of the packs of rigs you can buy that have the dimensions to copy. Ok ok I could have shown a pulley but I'm stuck in that place you go between fishing and under a bit of pressure.

I just use the diagrams to copy the lengths of snood and where to tie on the hook lengths. I love sitting down and making up some traces and having my own selection with me.

Kraken was right about not making catching any easier but it feels great when you start catching on your own traces and you can pick and choose to suit the venue.

maybe the best thing is to buy the ready made rigs and copy them, would definatly prefer to tye my own knots then trust some machine, cant kick a machine up the ass when they break
