Guys,
Is it possible to buy ragworm anywhere in Belfast/North Down without pre-ordering it?
Most of the place I know of only get it in on a Friday/Saturday and even then u have to pre-order.
My problem is that I'm hoping to get out this Thursady coming so I'll need my rag on Wednesday.
Any ideas. (Don't say "dig you own", I'm far too posh for that, LOL)

I've got ragworm ordered for the weekend.
Ive had a few days off work this week. As I didn't have any ragworm yet I went in search of "easily obtainable" bait. (ie from Tescos).
I bought two mackeral, some cooked & peeled king prawns & a jar of mussels in brine.
When I started fishing I found that the mackeral was well past its best, even for bait. It was stinking and really, really soft.
The mussels were a waste of time. Really soft (not in the usual "raw" mussel style of soft) couldn't keep them on the hook even with elastic.
The prawns were super.
Like I say, I've ragworm lined up & some fresh (freshly frozen!) mackeral. So, I'll be okay for this weekend. However, I saw some packs of frozen seafood in Tescos, a mix of squid, mussel & prawns. I'm planning to take a bag of this with me to experiment with. I'll let u know the results. It might not be brilliant but it would be handy if you were stuck!

The fish bought in supermarkets does seem to be around in ice well past its best. The worst I ever did was buy a couple of pilchards for bait - sloppy like you mackeral but you get the guts and all in pilchards - ugh - could not use them for bait, never mind think about eating them.
