If you goto the downloads links look in the left hand side "posters and id guides "
The "skate and ray guide" is the best I've found to this confusing issue.................Come on we all know some but not all.
apparently if you email them they will post these guides to you ...especially the shark guide, which includes all the correct names for the sharks in our waters. Apparently the Dog fish is a small spotted catshark.

Very good guide. Nice one.
There is also a petition on the site. To safeguard the survival of sharks and rays within European waters. We are deeply concerned about the failure of EU fishery managers to heed scientific studies that time and again emphasise the decline of sharks and rays due to over fishing.
I'm sure alot of the people on the site would be wanting to sign for this.

scara thanks for sharing. And yes, dogfish is in fact a catshark. I found it out last year when I was trying to find what is a polish name for that fish.
