Anyone tried using blennies/gobys as bait for bass? How would you rate them?
I come across these a lot when gathering bait, often in bass feeding areas.

Have never used them myself but I believe they are excellent when fishing kelpy rocky ground for Bass, hooked as livebait on the bottom or under a float does the trick.
Makes sense that the Bass would feed on them over broken ground.

Hi
Rockfish are excellent bait for bass in rocky areas, even known to attract in pollack and big ballen wrasse, not to mention congers...
Small flatfish about the size of large postage stamps that you find in shallow sandy pools near rocks are even better although I must admit I find it very hard to even consider using them any more...
FWIW

Cheers lads, I'll give it a go next time I have one.
I reckon Eric is right about the scent but they are incredibly tough and might make up for the lack of scent by good live movement on a light setup (once it doesnt conceal itself too well?)
