Hi,
I have a boattrip on the Saturday from Scraggane, but plan to be down around Castlegregory from 4pm or so on Friday. Iwas thinking of fishing the Trench (high water in Fenit is about 10.30 pm)

Accuweather gives the following

Friday, Aug 8M Rather cloudy with a couple of showers. Winds from the NW at 12 km/h.Realfeel®: 17 °C High: 17 °C

Friday Night, Aug 8 Mostly cloudy. Winds from the SSW at 11 km/h. Realfeel®: 6 °C Low: 11 °C

Has anyone any other suggestions, given time of year /tide/weather .

you could try sandy bay on a rising tide not the beach its self but the rocky area to the left is supposed to be good for ray. got my first ray ever there, close in, using mackeral, you might also try a float rig there for garfish, again mackeral strip or half a sandeel. if you get lug you could get flounder.

try kilshannig at the top of a spring tide there should be loads of mullet feeding within 10 ft of the shore probably feeding on maggots. havent got round to trying that yet but I have seen them there multiple, large shoals of mullet along the shore line. (might give that a go myself)

the trench is supposed to be great but I have never caught anything there myself as i haven't fished it that often.

i fished down from castlegregory at high tide and the ebb and only got a flounder so id say you might be better on the fill there

good luck with it
