WooHoo! Fishing Trip to Cork!

Hey Everybody!

I'm going to Cork for a Fishing trip next Saturday!

Has anyone fished here/fish here?

I'll be staying around Rosscarbery and Clonakilty area, very close to Long Strand, Warren and Owenicha

Is the fishing good around there?

was down that direction last year for a week and there are plenty of places to fish,

there was an article in irish angler last year about the mullet fishing in the bay / flats in roscarberry town, never tried for them myself but they they are supposed to be great fighters if difficult to hook......., just down the road in glandore i had great craic with mackeral right inside the pier wall in the village (dusk) where they turned up regular as clock work in mid august.

just a little further up the road is courtmacsherry, there a loads of reports about this harbour, i've had flats, bass, gilthead bream !! decent size pollack, macks, wrasse and even a garfish over a summer.... and they do charters out of there too.

there are a few regulars here from that part of the world (probably moved there for the fishing :D ) have a search for clonakilty in the reports section and you're eyes will water :-)

Don't fish down that way much these days.
With big spring tides next weekend the estuaries will be a "no go"
and will be best fished on the bottom or top of the tides only

Plugging for bass around Ring, Courtmacsherry or the Burran rock oppisit Cortmac on the top of the tide might produce a fish or two.

Lug can be dug on the road out to Ring and you'll get peelers and softies in the weed.

If the seas are calm you'll get good pollack and wrasse fishing from the rock marks

Low water for Clonakilty Sat. is about 14.00 with a 4.1mt tide chasing it in.
