catching dogfish

Is it better to keep your line fairly tight when fishing for doggies and let the dogs hook themselves against the anchored gripper or is it better to let the line a little slack?

Obviously there are times when there are so many around that you just can't help but catch them but in general when there are a few around.

i know a lot of anglers who use short, low memory snoods so the dogs hook themselves on the pull, theory being its stops them swallowing and playing with the baits, im still fairly undecided, send rampant a pm

i think if you are targeting dogs a plain lead and short snood works well if they feel resistence they tend to chew the bait rather than swimming off with it, depends if u need to use a gripper or not, 6 inch plain lead, 12 inch gripper, works for me
