Hi lads, any ideas what this may be? It was caught last Friday in the East coast. It measured around 11 in. I though the place only held pollack. It does look like it is from the same family with the 3 dorsal and 2 anal fins, lateral line... but the single barbel and that colour have lost me (not that it was difficult). Cheers.

Red codling,
I think they turn that colour because of the iodine from they kelp where they live. I've caught a good few of these fellas during the summer fishing for wrasse. Not bad on a plate with a few beans and some chips
